Horse and pony rescue centres

Visit our two horse sanctuaries in or near to the Brecon Beacons National Park and meet the volunteers at the rescue centres. Visitors to the horse rescue centres are welcome, but it is always advisable to call them before your visit.

Rescue centres

Lluest horse and pony Sanctuary
An equine rescue centre, rehabilitation and re-homing charity which takes in horses, ponies and donkeys who are victims of neglect, abuse and abandonment.

The charity's aim is to re-home them into adoption families but some have medical or behavioural problems and will stay at Lluest for life.

To visit, please call to arrange a suitable time when staff can accompany you and tell you all about the individuals at the sanctuary.

The Welsh Pit Pony Centre
Visit the Fforest Uchaf horse & pony centre and Pit Pony sanctuary and meet some of the last few Welsh Pit Ponies.
The aim of the sanctuary is to provide a safe haven for horses and ponies who have suffered through neglect, ignorance or cruelty. Some have special problems and will spend the rest of their lives at the sanctuary.
Visitors will be taken on a quiet walk in the pastures with a magnificent panoramic backdrop of the Taff Valley and on clear days the Brecon Beacons.
